Southwest Florida used to share area code 941 with Sarasota and Bradenton. As the region grew, the southern part of 941, from North Fort Myers south, was renumbered to 239 on March 11, 2002, and callers could use either code until March 10, 2003. Unlike Miami, which now has three codes for the same area, 239 is still a single area code with no overlay.
